"Ladybugs on Yucca Flowers", by Karla Nolan, palette knife, brush oil painting on linen panel

Okay, I'm going to toot my horn on this particular painting, as I am extremely proud of it.  I wanted to go a more simple route with lighter colors and still have an impact.  Painting a light wash in oil first, then gradually adding the buds and flowers of the yucca bush, and layering on several ladybugs did the trick for me.  I hope you like it as much as I do!  And....yes, it's a great price, a great deal!  So there!!!

"Ladybugs on Yucca Flowers", 10"x8""  palette knife and brush oil painting on linen panel, sold unframed, $100 includes s/h in U.S., to be determined elsewhere at time of sale; please write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

I have set up a second website, Paintings On Glass, to showcase my paintings on glass.  There is a piece in progress as I type with sailboats.  That's a true challenge, showing proper structure and making the water look good.  Be sure to check it out, along with my new blogspot, listed below.

Sometimes it's the common things like cars which I find interesting subjects for a painting. The shapes of the cars and all the lights and colors in the reflections marry to create a fantastic painting!

An exercise in color was the purpose of this particular painting. The rich deep pinks, blues, and greens are the stars...the shapes are incidental. Please feel free to leave a comment or email me at: marysbrush@aol.com

Michelle Torrez Demo at Saks Gallery

I was at Saks Gallery www.saksgalleries.com at a great demo by Michelle Torrez. She is an amazing artist. She painted this gorgeous model from sitting on the floor! She likes the foreshortened angle this gives. You can see by her second drawing that it barely looks like anything at all, yet in minutes, you could begin to see the real painting come forth. what an inpsiration!

An Urban Storm 4 x 8 Acrylic Urban Landscape Painting

$125.00 + $10.00 S/H

Spring has sprung, but I had to paint one more snow scene. I just loved all the atmosphere with the snow in the air and the way it created the spheres around the street lights. I don't know if the subjects in the painting were having as much fun as I was taking pictures in the storm but hopefully they were having a good day none the less.

"Storm over Solitude", by Colorado oil painter BarbYatesDudding

8x16
This is one of my favorite places to paint. It is in Evergreen, on the Blair Ranch,
Jeffco open space.
It is most always free of bikers and I do see an occasional hiker. On this day storm clouds were
coming over the mountains, the wind was blowing, but I had to finish this piece.
I think the final painting had some "witnesses"(bugs) stuck in the paint.

"PASSIONATE," 11021, daily painter vibrant floral © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"PASSIONATE"

This painting is an experiment.  It's painted on yupo paper that was texturized with spider webbing  - the kind you string around your house on Halloween.  I used acrylic paints, but the effect is better using Robert Doak watercolor concentrates.

Using acrylics alters the process somewhat because when they dry, they tend to trap the webbing, making it hard to remove.  The photo does not show the intricate color flows very well.

"Pear # 4" by Astrid Paustian

Oil on gallery wrapped canvas, 5" x 5", $95.-
Pears are always a great subject to paint as a small study.
Besides, it is my belief that every kitchen deserves at least one pear or chick painting on the wall.
I had a lot of fun playing with the colors, to give the pear an almost transparent appearance. Let's face it.I love color!

Susan Spohn---PET PORTRAITS!

Donna's Cat
7 x 7 (oil on board)

My friend and fellow artist, Donna, displayed this portrait of her cat (Lightning) that I painted last month, in her booth while we were showing at our recent show in Las Cruses, NM. She had so many customers interested in the painting, that she sent them over to my booth to inquire about pet portraits. So for a limited time, you too can have your pet immortalized in oil paint in an artsy manner, like Donna's cat, Lightning. Send me several good photos (preferably head shots) by e-mail, or if you prefer, regular postal mail (PO Box 1231, Salida, CO 81201) Please write down your pet's true eye color, as it is often difficult to discern in a photo. Also, please include your e-mail address or phone number in case I have additional questions. These will be pet portraits done on 7 x7 board and they will only cost $85.00, including free shipping in the Continental USA. (if you would like a larger size portrait, such as a 15 x 15 the cost will be $225.00 and there will be a small shipping charge)

So act fast! I will only be accepting the first 30 pet portraits to paint in the next month. Send me the name of your pet also, so I can title the painting.

"CELEBRATION" 11020 daily painter mixed media collage © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"CELEBRATION"
This is my demo piece from the second Littleton, CO, Metals and Mixed Media Workshop I gave over the weekend.  This piece is very three dimensional because the texture on the top part is made from cedar bedding that you would buy at the pet store for your pet hamster or gerbil.  While you're at the pet store, pick up some kitty litter because that makes great texture too.

The normal color of the cedar bedding is reddish brown and cream.  I enhanced that a bit. There is also some black sand sprinkled in there and some combusted red foil.  The wavy curly Q line is dimensional fabric paint by Tulip.  Click on the image for a close up view.

Once again, the workshop was a really fantastic experience, judging from the reactions I received from the artists in attendance.  We experimented with ironing tyvek, torching metals, drilling holes for nails and brads, epoxy resin application, and using all kinds of unique and fabulous materials.

Most of the artists were experienced primarily with watercolors, so the versatility of acrylic paints, along with all the cool effects and unusual materials I introduced, really got their creative juices flowing.

KMD2607 One Spring Morning by Kit Hevron Mahoney (urban, Europe, urbanscape, floral, garden)

I have painted this scene before in a different composition (it was 48"x60") so it is fun to do a small version as well. There are some scenes that I love to paint more than once with different view points and this is one of them! This scene was found several years ago in Germany. We were driving thru a small town and I remember coming to a screeching halt (luckily no one was behind me) to get out and photograph it.

Pears and Blue Vase Janice Warriner

Pears and Blue Vase
8 by 10 oil on canvas board
available on my website at http://www.janicewarriner.com/
I love painting pears, the warmth, the colors, the soft curves, lovely.  However, the vase was my original inspiration. I picked it up at a thrift store the other day,  and I wanted to compliment the blue in the vase with the warm yellow-green tones of the pears.  The drop cloth and background are the same as what I used for The Merlots.
