"HENPECKED" 11031 daily painter original oil rooster painting © Carol Nelson Fine Art

"HENPECKED"

This guy looks p.o.'ed.  A friend suggested that perhaps he was henpecked.  Ta-dah!  Instant title.  I think it's important to think of titles for paintings.  Artists in my abstract classes often have trouble naming their paintings, but I insist that they come up with SOMETHING.

I painted this rooster while I was sitting at an art show that wasn't going well.  Traffic was so slow, it was like watching paint dry.  This was my attempt to make lemonade from lemons.

For more info on this angry bird ( I've been playing that game too much on my phone), please click here to go to my website.

Susan Spohn ---- Aspen Study, framed

Aspen Study, framed

Earlier this month I mounted this painting on hardboard then floated this painting on a larger 1/2 inch board, painted black and gave it a natural wood bevel. I must admit that the efforts were worth it and the piece looks great. Please excuse the glare in this photo, I am working with one hand/arm as I am recovering from wrist surgery performed on Tuesday, April 26th. If you can help me with some of these medical costs by purchasing a painting or card, it would be deeply appreciated---please visit my blog. This painting is for sale for $275.00, contact me for more information, and visit my blog:  susanmspohn.blogspot.com

KM2623 Spring's Renewal by Kit Hevron Mahoney (poppies, landscape, floral landscape)

As I look around my gallery I see that most of my florals are gone and I need to replace my many fall paintings with the excitement of spring. This is one I have created inspired from my spring journey to the Texas Hill Country. Although I went in search of the bluebonnets, which were rare this year, there was still plenty of beauty to be found.

ballet painting by Janice Warriner

Here, a simple scene is made into something special. I hope through my paintings, viewers begin to know the things that are important to me and that I care about.
Many of my ballet paintings are available as cards or prints at

This is my daughter Emma. She was posing for me in her ballet costume. She is not in ballet this year, but has, instead taken up singing lessons.

To achieve a loose feeling in this painting, I used a large brush and used all the leftover paint on my palette. I also have recently taken advice from master painter Neil Patterson and I am currently not using any medium or turps. This makes the paint nice and thick, and layers exceptionally well.

Last week, I had the great pleasure to visit Tony’s Happy Apple Orchard in Penrose, Colorado, with the Pikes Peak Plein Air Painters - a very cool spring morning, but all was lovely. This painting was completed on location in the orchard, with the delicate scent of the blooming apple trees filling the air. A great day to be alive, and to be a painter!

Homestead

The apple blossoms were just staring to bloom, a welcome sight in the spring air. The original family still owns the orchard and maintains the ancestor's homestead as a museum. I've painted the building clean-edged and precise, while the landscape surrounding it is loose and sketchy.

Majestic Migration by Pam Holnback

In Flight
6" x 6" oil on panel
$100.00  $10. s/h

Last month my husband and I went to Monte Vista, Colorado, in the southern part of the state, to see the sandhill crane migration.  During the month of March 20 - 25,000 cranes migrate through, and spend a good part of the month loading up on fuel in preparation for the continuation of the flight north.   At any given time there are about 10,000 - 11,000 greater sandhill cranes at the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge.

"In a Bunch" by Janice Wright

Acrylic on hot pressed

8" x 10"

The bananas in the fruit basket looked particuliarly inviting; fresh from the store the lovely green tops and beautiful curved shapes looked worthy of a painting or two! (or three) I found the smooth press watercolour paper challenging, nasty like bristol board, that horrible stuff you used as a kid to do presentations for school.
