"Stairwell in Scanno" 11x14 pastel
Visited Italy August 2009 and this was one of the stairwells that awed me. While walking the streets of Scanno...the light in this stairwell was amazing and I had to paint it. Scanno is a small town in the Abruzzi region of Italy. This is where my grandpa Petrocco's family came from and it was beautiful. I ask myself...self..why did they want to leave such a beautiful place...I am sure for a better life. But...life looked pretty good to me in Scanno. Hope to visit again someday.
