Pulse, Original Contemporary Abstract Painting by Toni Brock, Colorado Intuitive Abstract and Mixed Media Artist

Pulse inspired itself and was created by an extreme amount of paint layering with spatula scraping and downward brush strokes. I decided to apply white and let the spatula scraping move to what I was feeling. I didn't realize until I was done with this step that I was holding my breath the whole time - what if white which is so stark would ruin the painting. I have learned to go with the flow from inside and let it work itself with out thinking first. The end result allows the painting to have movement and it also shows my "pulse" at the moment. Even though Pulse has a serene feel to it. it is in contrast to what I was feeling while it was being painted. You can see through the strokes they were fast and hard.

This painting is a 20" by 24" by 2" gallery wrapped canvas painting. It is acrylic with pastels and water color.
