"Impromptu Ballerina Rose Bouquet" by Karla Nolan, 14"x11" unframed palette knife oil painting

I studied oil painting with Daniel Edmondson some time ago, a marvelous teacher and fine person.  He paints the most beautiful still life paintings, something I never felt I could even approach with a brush or palette knife.  I was inspired, however, more than I knew, to attempt a more "rugged" or less refined painting recently, with the thought of the pink ballerina rose bush planted in front of our house as the subject matter.  Dan has a more representational approach and I just tend to abstract my realism, as you can see!  (I might add here, he teaches some amazing painting classes via DVDs, you might want to check into these....he's on Facebook with more information....)

Fun Color and Texture in 'Over Stuffed Bouquet'

Over-Stuffed Bouquet

30 x 30

Original Oil Painting

This photo does not do the painting justice... but it will have to do for now. My camera is on the fritz. The colors jump off the painting and there is a fun energy about this bouquet. How many times do we keep adding 'just one more flower' to fill a vase? Anyway, this is one of those occasions.  View more about this painting on my website: SpohnStudio.com

Day 2 of the painting challenge, and I am inspired by a bouquet of flowers.  I think we sometimes take flowers for granted. We see them in bouquets so often in grocery stores and now even department stores, the old familiar flower shop is becoming an infrequent site.  Where do you buy your flower bouquets? I love to look at these bouquets up close... smelling the flowers.

This original oil painting is part of a 30 day, 30 paintings painting challenge. It is for sale for $50.00, you can purchase this painting on my website:  SpohnStudio.com

Susan Spohn -- Gratitude Bouquet

Gratitude Bouquet

18 x 18

Oil on Wood Panel

Earlier this week,  a lost white female hound dog with some small black spots was running loose on our street. She came right up to me and dashed inside our building. She was just shaking and scared! She took refuge in our bathtub and refused to go anywhere else. For some reason she really took a liking to me. I searched and searched for an owner looking for her, but couldn't find one. So my neighbor, helped me bring her to Sunshine Shelter in Poncha Springs. I worried about that dog about this dog all night. Then the next day, the owner showed up at our building with a bouquet of flowers for me for taking such good care of her lost dog.

This is the painting this bouquet has inspired. It is for sale for $325.00, contact me for shipping and payment details.  www.susanmspohn.com     www.susanmspohn.blogspot.com
