I have found that by eliminating turp completely in my paintings has finally allowed me to achieve the thick, textured paint I always sought after. The paint lays right over top of other colors without lifting previous layers. By dragging the brush lightly, it allows underneath color to show through and you can keep layering until you get the effect you want.
