While in Costa Rica in February I shot some photos of tropical foliage. Using this referrence material, I wanted to paint the colourful flowers and leaves, but I didn't want to get caught up in the detail. I wanted to capture the lushness of the plants, their brilliant colour and the play of the the light on the leaves.
