Forests seem to pop out of nowhere - even in some of the urban areas in Vancouver. Evergreens are one of my favorite trees to paint because of the shapes of their branch clusters and the craggy appearance. The photo shows the excellent shapes to work from. By zooming in on the photo, as I did in the above painting, it puts the viewer in the forest, and you feel the surrounding trees upon you.
