I wanted to paint these wild sunflowers that grow around Sands Lake,
near town here in Salida. But felt they would be too lonely without the
geese that inhabit this lake... and so I added a couple to keep the
flowers company. Conversations around a wild sunflower plant, I can hear
them saying, "Well, it's just you and me, babe.... what now?" This
