Fall Trees, Janice Warriner, Plein Air

Soft edges and loose brushwork helped to convey the impression of this autumn scene of the golden fall colors. The challenge for me was the overall yellow, color scheme. I had to be careful and watch the values, or everything would blend together too much, with no real definition.
This was intended to be a sunset painting, but I finished too early, before the sun actually set. I was happy with the result, and it was getting cold, so I packed up.
It was also my first time using my little thumb box. I need to make some adjustments with it, such as a tripod mount and a palette extension, but other than that, I like the convenient, small size.
I have good news this week, I have been recently been accepted into Women's Artist of The West, and also I have had two paintings accepted to my first museum show. It is the littleton Museum Fine Art Gallery, and I am waiting on my work to be framed, at Glasser Frames (love them!) and I will deliver on Friday.
