Farm Fresh ~ Warriner

Farm Fresh
6 by 6 acrylic on birch wood
This was one of the chickens that came at the post office, I think it was a Leghorn, but can't quite recall. This poor guy ended up losing his leg in the winter. Chickens apparently do not know to lift their feet off the ground when they become cold. I know, it is kind of nasty. He did end up being ok. and went on to live a long life. My son invented a prosthetic leg for him and my brother in law, who is an expert welder actually built the leg for him. Of course, it didn't work out for him and he just hopped around on one leg. Here is a picture of the engineered leg.
