Old Lyme, the birthplace of American Impressionism, is a beautiful town that sits on the CT River near its mouth at the Long Island Sound. The seashore and surrounding hills have attracted artists for many years and Old Lyme is known for its great museums and galleries. The marina is extensive and provides lots of great painting opportunities.This scene was painted on a very misty September day.

New England coastal towns are all charming but Rockport, MA is one of my personal favorites. This painting is sold but prints are available. $4.70 of every print sold will be donated to the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" program.

I experimented with a larger version of this painting for my own dining room wall and will post it next week. Prints of the larger version will also be available.
