Here is the third painting in the series I painted of the Martinez Hacienda Museum in Taos NM. The Hacienda de los Martinez is one of the few northern New Mexico style, late Spanish Colonial period, "Great Houses" remaining in the American Southwest. A must place to visit in Taos.

Another morning plein air painting in Taos but this morning turned out more interesting:

There was a man with a few others taking care of horses only a few steps from where I was painting, brushing and washing the horses and I assumed them to be caretakers. Well, was I mistaken! One of the men asked me if I would like to see his art studio and he motioned for me to go into the barn. Well, what would you have thought? As I entered, the scene unravelled from a barrel of oats and then... I heard Elvis playing and an incredible studio laid out! Beautiful paintings all over, everything neatly in place and all this was Ed's studio! I had met

This was the first painting done in Taos, NM. The first early morning, Virginia,www.virginiaunseld.com/  an amazing painter, we found ourselves facing the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. At 650 feet above, it is the fifth highest bridge in the United States...it was daunting to say the least!! All that expanse of pure beauty in the morning light! I started with a 30 min. warm up of the beautiful silver sagebrush. Very common all over the New Mexico landscape, and no doubt overlooked by most.
