KMA2880 Kinetic Poetry I by Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (12x12 abstract, oil on panel)

I have done a series of 3 of these colorful abstract paintings. I am offering each of them for sale on the internet  for half my gallery price. I will be posting the others later but if you are interested in seeing them before they get posted just email me at kitmahoney@yahoo.com and I will send you images of the other 2. Each is painted in oil on a 12"x12" panel board that is 1" deep. They can easily be framed if that is preferred. These abstracts are really a fun and creative break from the representational works I do and I know that the thought process in these gets integrated in my representational work as I grow as an artist.

KMA2855 Evolving Spaces by Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

I am finally in the process of creating a series of abstract paintings based on natural forms found in nature. This series is inspired from my latest trip to Kauai where I photographed some exquisite close ups from the bark of a Eucalyptus tree. The colors and patterns thrilled me as I looked through the camera and even more as I paint my interpretation on canvas.

KMA2851 Unfolding Tranquility by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney (abstract, acrylic, original art)

I painted this piece before leaving for my trip to Kauai (which was magnificent). I am on a mission to delve more deeply into the expression of painting in the abstract. It is very challenging for me, having worked representational for so many years. It seems most of us artists head in the direction of abstract at some point in our careers. For me it is a new form of expressing myself by painting what I feel and not what I see. This doesn't mean I am abandoning my representational work, I think this only adds to it.

KMA2527 The Soul's Pleasure by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

Another from my abstract series of oil abstracts mounted on an aluminum panel that is ready for hanging or to me enjoyed on a small table easel. The abstracts are so intriguing as they engage the viewer to let their own imaginations find in them whatever they want.

KMA2774 Mystery Within by Colorado contemporary artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

This is another piece from my wonderful abstract series of smaller prototypes to create on a large scale. The painting is done in oil on canvas mounted to board with a poured poly resin finish. This is then mounted on brushed copper which is ready to hang, set in an easel as shown or even frame. The top picture is the painting photographed before pouring the poly resin; the colors sing with the poly resin but are impossible to show well in a photograph. 10"x12" original oil on brushed copper $150 plus $15 Shipping and handling See more paintings on my blog Visit my website Daily Impressionist Painters Daily Painters of Colorado

KMA2638 Birth of Dreams by Kit Hevron Mahoney

This is one of my mixed media pieces that I have had such fun creating. This particular piece has a poly resin pour on top giving it a a luminous look with the colors just singing. The dominant color in this is turquoise which I am partial to as it lets my imagination take me to far away waters or into the sky. This was created with no reference and totally from intuition.

KMA2778 Souls Pleasure by Contemporary Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

Here is a little gem that was painted in oil and then finished with a poly resin on top leaving it absolutely luminous. (The photo here is without the resin.) This is part of my series that I am creating for the Art Student's League of Denver Summer Art Market June 9 and 10. I am very excited about all I have painted and created for this event. All the prep work has obviously slowed down my posting!

KMA2760 Taos Tribal by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

This is a fun little abstract created in a series I am preparing for the Art Student's League of Denver's Summer Art Market. I was thrilled with the color combination using leftover paints from another painting I was doing. I never know what will come of these little paintings created totally from imagination; some get thrown out and some thrill me.

KMA2751 Soul's Dream by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

Continuing with with abstract art, I am creating miniature images from my oils leftover at the end of my painting day. This is one in a series of three. I love to see what my palette looks like with all the leftover piles of color from creating a larger representational painting. I am creating these small gems for the Summer Art Market in June put on by the Art Student's League of Denver.

KMA2737 Playful Touch by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahney

I have just returned from a very wet but relaxing trip to Kauai. I had painted this piece before leaving and am planning to do some of my small daily paintings this week inspired from my trip.
This painting was created from a small abstract I painted as a study for a larger one. The real joy in this kind of painting is letting it take its own course using my original study only as a starting point. It is such a fun journey working from the intuitive.

KMA2739 Beyond Horizons by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

It is difficult to describe how I create my abstract paintings as it is such an intuitive process. Of course my results are a culmination of life experience and everything I have been exposed to in addition to all the art I peruse looking for inspiration. This painting evolved seemingly into a landscape and I let it "paint itself" once I saw a direction in it. I am off to some great adventures on Kauai with my good friends Connie and Pat. Posting will be sporadic for the next 10 days as I enjoy this vacation but know I will return home with yet many new inspirations!

KMA2734 Soaring Dreams by contemporary Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

This painting was inspired from a small abstract that I created with my oil paints. Whenever I finish one of my oil paintings, I use the remaining paint to create a small abstract. I then choose my favorites of these to use as inspiration for my larger abstract paintings. It is such a great journey from leftover paints to a final creation. I never quite know where I will end. I really love the colors in this one.

KMA2719 Warm Chromatic by Kit Hevron Mahoney

This warm and colorful abstract is another done intuitively. It is one that took many layers and much study and observation before I knew it was finished; the most difficult part of painting abstractly for me! I am pleased with both the composition, flow and colors in this one. I hope it keeps the viewer engaged.

KMA2720 The End of Silence by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

I created this colorful piece with pure imagination and was thrilled with the way it came out. It is such a wonderful time when I tap into the inner self and the painting just flows out, seemingly without effort. Lacking words to describe what I am attempting I will use the words I found in trying to describe abstracted art: Abstraction generally involves implication, suggestion and mystery rather that obvious description. Like a good poem, a good abstraction attacks your feelings before your understanding.
