KMD2819 Old Glory by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

While perusing my reference looking for pictures for a commission I came across this image taken when in New England on a trip with my photographer friend Pat. It seemed like the perfect subject to paint with the 4th of July just around the corner. It is great that I now have so many shows and commissions behind me that I now have time to get back to doing some of my small daily paintings.

7"x5" unframed original oil
$125.00 + $10.00 shipping and handling

Contemporary impressionistic fine art painting

Aspen's Nocturnal
Another in my "aspen" series. This was created with layer on layer
of vivid color, texture and depth.

"Impressionistic artist tasted the world through their eyes.
The new painting was all about the thrill and delight of the visual sensation, which means becoming intimately involved with the sensation of light or 'painting the light' (you can see how far a field we have come when Thomas Kinkade uses the same phrase). It is about painting directly from nature and expressing the rush of your visual (as opposed to ideational) sensation on the canvas in such a way that the activity itself is the point, not the painting!" Best Day Ever! by Janice Warriner www.oilsbyjanice.blogspot.com

Best Day Ever!
6 by 8 oil on canvas

Being so visual, I love "picture books" Ok, there is some reading in there too, but take a look at California Impressionism by W. Gerdts and W, South. I ordered it from the library and am fascinated by their techniques and subject matter. Love it!

I am having an artist reception at The Courtyard Gallery, in Castle Rock Colorado, so if you are in the area, you are more than welcome to stop by tonight*
