KMD2824 Nature's Rhythms 7x5 floral landsape oil by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

Another painting done from perusing my picture files that have been sitting idle for quite some time. I love the wildness and freedom that this composition represents. It is so alive and full of energy, rhythm and color contrasts. This inspires me to create a larger painting from this little gem for our fall show at Brushsstrokes!

KMD2820 Cascaing Cosmos by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

I have had this picture in my pile of "want to paint" for a long time now. I came across it in my files that I was perusing as I was looking for another reference photo. It is good to do some housecleaning now and again for there are wonderful surprises to be found that have been totally forgotten. This is such a joyous scene as are cosmos to begin with.

KMD2819 Old Glory by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

While perusing my reference looking for pictures for a commission I came across this image taken when in New England on a trip with my photographer friend Pat. It seemed like the perfect subject to paint with the 4th of July just around the corner. It is great that I now have so many shows and commissions behind me that I now have time to get back to doing some of my small daily paintings.

KMD2784 Spring's Lush Gifts by Colorado Artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

Back to the easel with a new spring subject. I am still in the busy time of painting for the Art Student's League Art Market and am trying not to get too frenzied as the days draw closer to the event. I have some really exciting new works, all abstracts that I am creating but it was fun to take a break and return to one of my favorite subjects; springtime and joyous and vibrant poppies. Enjoy!

KMD2727 Outside the Pub Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney

While sorting through my London paintings for pictures of the red phone booths I came across this scene that really appealed to me for a daily painting. I think I might have to find more of these wonderful scenes as not only are they fun to paint but I get to relive my travels as well.
