Here is one of my latest done for our show at Brushstrokes Gallery called "Define/Describe" where we have painted a representational painting followed by an abstraction of that peice. The abstracted painting will be posted next! This is a scene from our mountain cabin on a path along the river which I have walked year after year and always never grow bored as the scenes may remain the same but the scenery is ever changing.

KMD2839 Glowing Autumn by Colorado artist Kit Hevron Mahoney
This painting was done as a warm up before starting a street and figurative commissioned painting. The daily paintings are a good way to start the creative juices flowing and put me into the right side of my brain that is where the good stuff comes from!

"Aspen Colors" by Astrid Paustian
Oil on Gessobord, 5" x 7", $ 125.-
Before starting larger paintings, and sometimes just to loosen up, I like to do small color studies of subjects. Going through my photos from last fall, I found this little Aspen Grove with the unusual bright orange hues in the trees. The hot temperatures of the last 2 months make me look forward to the crisp, cool Autumn days.
