Susan Spohn -- German Shepard II

German Shepard II

7 x 7

oil on board

Finished my second German Shepard painting today. This one has a lot of depth to the fur, and lots of shading and various colors. I mix all my paints from basic red, yellow, blue, green, white.... so mix my own color combinations to form blacks and earth tones. I used brushes and a pallet knife to complete this painting.  Visit my blog to read more about my painting process and to view other paintings: www.susanmspohn.blogspot.com     Visit my new website too! susanmspohn.com

Sandhill Crane by Pam Holnback

Sandhill Crane
6" x 6" Oil on panel
$100.00 + $10. s/h

I really wanted to see what the sandhill cranes from the Monte Vista Wildlife Refuge looked like close up.  That's pretty hard to do unless you have a very long lens, which I don't.  My lens is great for normal shots and it zooms quite a bit.  At the refuge there were photographers with lenses that looked to be about 12 inches long.

The sandhill cranes make a very deep rolling trumpet and rattling sound.  And when thousands of them are creating this cacophony of music, it's like an outdoor orchestra.  You can google "sandhill crane sounds" and hear them for yourself!  I did!
