Collage, Mixed Media Painting “MEADOWLAND” by Colorado Artist Carol Nelson

I love the work of Richard Diebenkorn. He often painted to what looked like aerial views of the landscape. Although this painting didn't start out that way, it ended up looking to me like an aerial view of farmland. Several collage papers were used to provide textures. This painting comes with a black floater frame.

Geologic Abstract Painting, “SECRET CAVERN" by Colorado Mixed Media Abstract Artist Carol Nelson

I was going for a loose abstract look when I started painting this one. But as I kept working on it, it became increasingly a geologic abstract. I can't help it. I love painting rocks and rock textures. I can imagine coming across a cavern like this while hiking in the mountains, near where I live. I think I would be too afraid of disturbing the residents if I were to peek in there.

Contemporary Art, Abstract Painting "VISUALIZING FAITH" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

For me, this image suggests the vulnerable feelings of uncertainty. Within the emptiness of the void, exists full potential and all possibilities. We must keep going, step by step, with faith, hope and charity.

Oil and Cold Wax Abstract Painting, "Beach Highway", by Carol Nelson Fine Art

Here is another attempt at using oil and cold wax medium. I am finding it is not that easy to master. There are wonderful effects, however, that are not achievable in other mediums.

Mixed Media, Abstract Art, Contemporary Painting "STEPPING OUT" by Carol Nelson Fine Art

The complete title of this painting is Stepping Out of my Comfort Zone. It's quite far removed from my usual style, but I really had fun painting intuitively.

Abstract Painting, Contemporary Art "A Walk in the Park" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

In our fast-paced, modern world, it is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of thoughts, and the many distractions that pull us away from the present moment. Developing a state of "mindfulness", purposefully paying attention without judgement, offers us awareness, appreciation of the present moment, and the ability to focus.

To empty your mind and be awake and responsive in the moment takes practice. This state of being allows creative endeavors to occur and if, its a "Walk in the Park."

Abstract Art, Mixed Media Painting “Billboard 8” by Colorado Artist Carol Nelson

This painting is part of a series based on my concept of tattered billboards having remnants of previous images blowing in the wind. Collage is one of my favorite things to do in the studio. All the papers used in this painting were created or altered by the artist.

This painting is a diptych on two canvases to be hung without framing.
