Abstract Painting, Contemporary Art "A Walk in the Park" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

In our fast-paced, modern world, it is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of thoughts, and the many distractions that pull us away from the present moment. Developing a state of "mindfulness", purposefully paying attention without judgement, offers us awareness, appreciation of the present moment, and the ability to focus.

To empty your mind and be awake and responsive in the moment takes practice. This state of being allows creative endeavors to occur and if, its a "Walk in the Park."

Abstract Landscape Painting "Golden Antidote" by Intuitive Artist Joan Fullerton

The restorative power of a walk in nature cannot be denied. We connect with an awareness much larger than our worries and are able to transcend difficulties. I find that art is also powerful in this way. A stage production, engaging music, great literature, or a fine painting, can expand us beyond our human concerns.

Contemporary Impressionist Colorado Landscape Painting, Fine Art Oil Painting, Tree, “Queen of the Plateau” by Colorado Contemporary Fine Artist Jody Ahrens

This large single tree growing out of inhospitable rocks looks like an aloof Queen surveying her domain. And like a protective queen, her strong branches offer a nesting place for birds and shade for anyone that comes along.

"Daydreams", original painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

“Daydreams”

The idea of this painting actually came to me in a dream.  The beautiful blues, violets, and greens jumped out of my imagination, right on to the canvas, just like it was meant to be.  This piece was produced with a batik technique, on rice paper, and mounted to the canvas.

This piece is sold, but commissions are welcomed.  Feel free to contact me via email at saltlightwatercolors@yahoo.com.  You can also follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude. ~ Denis Waitley

This painting was created with many, many layers of papers, inks, and acrylic ink.  I created this during the time my dad was dealing with terminal cancer.  I felt the true healing powers of this painting for the grief I was experiencing.  I felt and experienced grace.

This painting is sold, but commissions are welcome.  Contact me via email or follow me on Social Media.  You can also check out my website, https://dmartinfineart.com/.

Sometimes it seems I am searching and searching for answers and cannot find them anywhere I look.  I want to do the right things and move in the right direction.  Sometimes, I think because I am always moving and searching, the answers keep eluding me.  In these moments, I know in my heart, that I need a time out, that I just need to breathe and “be still”.  This wise owl knows it too and he is a good reminder to stop, be still, and truly listen for the answers.

This painting is sold, but commissions are welcome.  You can reach me by email...I would love to hear from you!  You can also follow me on Social Media.

"Make a Wish", Original Painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

 Make a Wish

8”x 8”

Original Art

Watercolor Batik and Acrylic Ink on gallery depth canvas

I keep remembering my childhood when the days of summer were coming to an end.  Wandering through a field of dandelions that were about to give up their “clocks” for another year.  I had to find the “perfect one” and make the wish.  A wish and a dream from the heart.  Finally, I would spot it.  The Perfect One.  Inhale in, a deep breath, the wish.  Exhale out, with hope and child-like faith.  The wish.  This painting is a symbolic reminder to never give up.  Deep breaths in, deep breaths out.

This painting is sold, but commissions are welcome.  Please feel free to reach out to me via email my website, or on social media.  I would love to hear from you!

"Wild Heart", Original Mixed Media Painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

 Wild Heart

This was a painting that I thought I had finished. It had been sitting up against the wall for months. When I walked past it not too long ago, I realized it was nowhere near finished. It lacked light and life. I picked it up and began to add to it. I added colors and shapes and tiny details. It came to life in full bloom. Created with abandon and a wild heart!

The sky is a bit brighter as the sun rises, symbolic of a new day, with the heavyweight of darkness being pushed aside. "Peace Among the Trees", Original Mixed Media/Encaustic Painting by Colorado Artist, Donna L. Martin

"Peace Among the Trees"

This is my newest piece.  It was created after learning about a dear friend who was recently diagnosed with a devastating form of cancer.  Sometimes, after news like that, there are no words.  There was and is so much emotion and so many stages of "grief" after getting the news.  My friend is strong and courageous.  Her roots are planted deep and she will fight this with all she has.  She is walking through this battle with grace and fortitude.  She is truly my hero and my inspiration.

This piece was created with may layers of painted papers, paints, and inks.

It was finished with a layer of beautiful, dreamy, encaustic wax.

This is a small 8 X 8 piece, which I have finished with a simple black floater frame.  It is available.  You can send me an email here with any questions, comments, or if you are interested in purchasing.

"Winter on Dry Creek" 9 x 12 Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Landscape Artist Margretta Smylie Perry

"Winter on Dry Creek"

9 x 12 Original Pastel Painting
by
Margretta Smylie Perry

Dry Creek is a local open space area in the area north of Denver, CO. It is quite extensive, but this is one of my favorite areas. I tromped out in the snow one late afternoon to take photos, but when I saw the coyotes, I decided I'd better beat a hasty retreat! I hoped to capture the late afternoon and the very chilly weather!

Pastel Landscape Work-in-progress by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

Pastel Painting in Progress
 by
Margretta S. Perry

This pastel painting is definitely a work in progress. This is probably the 4th or 5th day of work. There are pieces of it that are really working well, and others I have barely addressed yet. It is one of the largest pastel paintings I've worked on. The size is intimidating, not because of the actual size of the painting, but because of the WEIGHT of the finished work when framed with glass. I usually paint smaller pieces because they are easier to pack up, deliver to shows, and carry to venues. We'll see how this works out...

I've just picked up some very deep colors in pastel--the deepest blue and green I could find, a light turquoise with which to finish these amazing Colorado skies, and a couple of those delicious spring greens. I also use a deep 'Merlot' color in my Terry Ludwig pastels which will add the darkest values yet in the foliage. Keep watching to see how this progresses.

“Blowing and Drifting…” 9-12” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“Blowing and Drifting…”

 9-12” Original Pastel Painting

by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

$225.00...+ Shipping

This pastel painting is a painting of memory and a little bit of fiction. It is an impression piece, I suppose. While growing up in Montana and Wyoming (and a host of other places which are not important right now) the weather forecast was often, “blowing and drifting snow”. If you’ve spent any winter time in the windy plains north of the Rockies, you’ll know what I mean. You might not be having falling snow at the time, but the ground blizzards can be ferocious and deadly. I remember riding many times with my family and having everyone at a car window calling out the white, (can you believe it???) center lines on the highway or the edges of the barrow pit and mile markers on the other side so that whoever was driving would know where he or she was on the road. So, when I painted this piece, I wanted to capture the isolation of the ranch, the mountains in the background, and the effects of the ground blizzard, reshaping the landscape by the minute. These were cold winter days which were miserable outside, but warm and cozy when you went into the house.

I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground and a mix of soft pastels. This painting is matted and framed out to a 12 x 16 size, ready for hanging. Although, if purchased matted but unframed, the shipping would be less but will need to be framed under glass.
