I love the colors in this painting, and the lighting casting highlights on this white German Shepard. Finished my second German Shepard painting today. This one has a lot of depth to the fur, and lots of shading and various colors. I mix all my paints from basic red, yellow, blue, green, white.... so mix my own color combinations to form blacks and earth tones. This is a commissioned pet portrait. I like its simplistic lines and coloring. There was a large flowering bushy sunflower plant in the back of the photo. I was undecided as to whether or not to include the people milling about this racing burro at the award ceremony; but then in the end, painted this version featuring the burro and then placed some of the people to frame him in the painting. He is the most patient "guardian" for this troubled animal, who had been abused as a puppy and acts very aggressive towards strangers and other dogs. She is the most devoted dog towards him and the entire family in return.
