"Skeeter" The Donk, Acrylic Paintings by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

Painted on a solid piece of wood

Skeeter is a little Donkey that was unwanted by him mom. He has thoroughly bonded with his human parents and is a joy in their lives and ours as his FB friends! He wears many different hats, occasionally work boots, and is running for President. We've viewed Skeeter being hauled around in a wheelbarrow, cruising around the lake in a row boat, opening doors and letting himself in the house, and many other hilarious antics.

Go to his Facebook page to see for yourself: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Skeeter-For-President/133648420089271

"Engage" Acrylic Paintings by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

I was invited by the Denver Hospice to participate in "The Mask Project" which benefits the hospice in their care of cancer patients. The 3D mask is ceramic and I asked my hubby to router out a cavity in a piece of wood to set the mask in....then I came up with the following piece. Hope you like it.

“ENGAGE”
This painted mask is a tribute to all who have had to reach deep within and bring forth their inner beast to “Engage” in a fight against cancer.

As a cancer survivor, I understand the ups and downs, the uncertainty, the whirlwind of emotions, and the battle. The strength I found within surprised and amazed me.

If anyone you know is in a battle with cancer, encourage them to unleash their inner beast and “Engage”.

This and other masks will be up for auction to benefit The Denver Hospice.

Mingan (pronounced MEEN gahn) is a Native American name meaning Gray Wolf. The word/name was first used by the Canadian Algonquin Indians and was then adapted by many Indian Nations as a boys name. The gray wolf (or timber wolf) has been through many challenges for survival. This magnificent creature is a beautiful symbol of strength and courage. It felt honorable painting him!!

A Different Kind Of Canvas - Paintings by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

The last couple of weeks I've been so busy completing glass painting orders and taking care of one of our little Pomeranian dogs. I haven't had a chance to even touch a paintbrush to a traditional canvas. Here's hoping all that can change in the next couple of days!

Whatever my canvas, if I'm painting, I'm happy!!!

"Rub A Dub Dub" Painting by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

Enamels and Acrylics were the paints of choice for this tub painting.

I love my original claw foot tub and it has lived in my house since 1884. This old tub deserved a face lift so I had the inside re-enameled and then proceeded to freshen up the claw feet. As I stood back and admired what had been done it struck me....what was Really needed was something to make everyone smile as they rounded the corner into this bathroom....yes, a scene of underwater play was most certainly called for. So with cushion under my bottom and with paints and brushes surrounding me, I set out to paint two or three fish playing under the surface of tropical waters. Well, once I started I couldn't stop so what you see is where my imagination took me.

I hope you enjoy seeing my whimsical tub painting. Want a tub painting of your very own? Email me: marysbrush@aol.com

The Painted Bra Art Project

There is a group on Facebook called: "The Painted Bra Art Project" As you can tell by the name, the object of this group is to support the fight against breast cancer by getting people to paint a bra.

The one pictured is my contribution and is called "Cups In Flight" because it sports a butterfly and hummingbird. If you want to get on board, just go to Facebook, search for The Painted Bra Art Project and click like. You don't have to paint a bra to support the group, but you'd have a lot of fun if you did!!
