"Winter in Colorado" Acrylic Paintings by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

With the weather in the 90s again today, my mind is wandering to winter days in the Colorado Mountains where the air is crisp, the sky is blue, and there is a promise of more snow to come!

This painting was done for a friend. If you would like your own winter scene, just email me at: marysbrush@aol.com

The Painted Bra Art Project

There is a group on Facebook called: "The Painted Bra Art Project" As you can tell by the name, the object of this group is to support the fight against breast cancer by getting people to paint a bra.

The one pictured is my contribution and is called "Cups In Flight" because it sports a butterfly and hummingbird. If you want to get on board, just go to Facebook, search for The Painted Bra Art Project and click like. You don't have to paint a bra to support the group, but you'd have a lot of fun if you did!!

"Golden Glory" Aspen and Pine Tree Paintings by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

10 x 8 Canvas in a Solid Black Frame

The changing colors of the Aspens amongst the Colorado Pines is a treat to see. Thousands of photos are taken each year to capture that special beauty that the fall season brings to our mountains. Finding one lone Aspen deep in a field of Pine Trees is rare. I have been fortunate to find that one Aspen and have captured in here on canvas.

"Chickadee Cheer" Bird Painting by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

9 x 7 Acrylic on #1 Pine
Ready to hang or display on a tabletop easel

Chickadees are one of my favorite little birds. We have many in our backyard and their song and calls are so happy and appealing. We have a nesting box that is filled with baby Chickadees that should Fledge soon. I watch the box daily as mom and dad constantly bring treats to the many little ones we can hear calling to them. I know once they are out of the box it won't be long before they are on there own. Before they take flight to far away places, it is my wish that they will spend some time in our plum tree as other babies have before them.

"Owl Under Foot" Painting by Coloardo Artist Mary Arneson

Acrylic on a Ceramic Floor Tile

Framed with the back side of Walnut flooring, this piece just says unique! The pattern of this floor tile showed me that a owl was living there and needed to be brought out. Once the painting was done, I happened upon a piece of wood that also showed the face of an owl. Cutting away the excess wood, the little wooden owl was attached to the tile painting to create an ensemble.

This interesting and unusual piece now resides at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"Wisteria" Watercolor by Colorado Artist Mary Arneson

5 x 7 Watercolor in the Sumi-E style
Framed in a simple black wooden frame

Simplicity is sometimes the key to painting in the Sumi-E style. Every stroke of the brush represents the one and only layer being applied. Unlike regular watercolor or acrylic, you paint each part of a flower's petal only once...no going back for fixes! This makes for a challenging and interesting painting.
