My friend Tom Weeks, gifted photographer from Boulder, Colorado, generously allowed me to paint his new owl photo, taken last week. This young owl hatched in late March, and is looking out into the new world.
I tried both, an oil and a watercolor version, these past 2 days, fascinated by the expressive face in a "bundle of fluff".

"Owl Under Foot" Painting by Coloardo Artist Mary Arneson

Acrylic on a Ceramic Floor Tile

Framed with the back side of Walnut flooring, this piece just says unique! The pattern of this floor tile showed me that a owl was living there and needed to be brought out. Once the painting was done, I happened upon a piece of wood that also showed the face of an owl. Cutting away the excess wood, the little wooden owl was attached to the tile painting to create an ensemble.

This interesting and unusual piece now resides at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Owl Birth Totem by Kate Dardine

"The Heart of Owl" is the seventh painting in my series of the twelve birth totem animals. Owl is the birth totem animal for those born November 23 - December 21. Click here to see more in the series.

If Owl is your Totem, an incredible gift has been bestowed to you.

You may have abilities to know things that others do not know. It may be likely you have very strong intuitive abilities that can be fine-tuned. Further, you may be a strong-willed person, or have a protective side to you and are mentally sharp.

Owl sightings may be messages for you to develop your education further. On the other hand, the Owl may be trying to tell you to develop your intuition further.

Owls also show themselves as a sign of warning. You simply need to pay close attention to people around you. Owls are incredibly perceptive. Use your powers of perception around new people you may meet. Learn to trust your instincts about people.
