KM3050 Twilight Reflection by Kit Hevron Mahoney (Contemporary Landscape oil 14 x 11)

KM3050 Twilight Reflection  14x11   oil
Here is another painting from my bin art sale.
I have priced it at $200 and it can be purchased by clicking on this link: Purchase Now.

I painted this painting mostly from memory and intuition as I strive to express more with less information. The open landscape is spiritual for me as I gaze upon the vastness of so many places in this world.

"Orange Skies, Yellow Moon" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

A full moon in orange skies with mountains in the foreground, this is a small palette knife oil painting that was a delight to paint.  I love the skies, the moon, the sun, the mountains and I'm on a mission to share that appreciation with you!

"Flying to The Moon" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas

Some more lunar fun.  This is a sizeable painting, perfect for over that sofa that needs freshening.  And who says a moon can't be pink?  Hints of waterfalls, obvious mountains, a bit more rugged terrain maybe?  Drifty atmosphere in the sky....and so on.

"Seaside Moon" by Karla Nolan, 8"x10" palette knife oil painting

Many moons ago (no pun intended!), I visited my dear friend Missy in Newport, Rhode Island.  We went to a golf club for dinner that had quite the view, very reflective as the sun descended over the water.  This is my attempt to capture a sliver of time during that sundown.  I like it.  I hope you do, also.  By the way, I do not play golf, have no ambition to do so, as I know how my right arm would hate me, it already does from painting!

"Lilac Skies, Full Moon and Mountains" by Karla Nolan, palette knife oil painting

A return (again!) to the Lunar-tique series.  I had a very difficult time capturing the colors of the sky while photographing this particular artwork but finally feel that they are representative of this piece.  It's always hard to get exactly the right shades for the skies and incorporate other elements accurately but I didn't go for accuracy with this moon.  I prefer the imagination!

"Moonlight Mountain Triptych" by Karla Nolan, framed painting on glass

Quite a task, this painting on glass.  It took forever to compose and then execute but I'm very satisfied, happy, with the results.  The photos don't do it just but then this is the sort of artwork best seen in person, I guess.

"Moonlight Mountain Triptych",10"x22" painting on glass (measured edge to edge glass) in frame shown, $675 includes s/h in continental U.S., Paypal accepted, click button below or write me for more information at KarlaNolan@gmail.com

"Dark Hills, Bright Skies" by Karla Nolan palette knife and brush watercolor painting

This is another experimental piece in watercolor using both brush and palette knives.  Always up for a new challenge, eh?  The paper is a bit rougher than others I've tried, hence the more textured sky.  Bottom line:  I AM HAVING FUN!

"Dark Hills, Bright Skies",  palette knife and brush watercolor painting, approximately 5"x7" image in beige mat to fit 8"x10" frame, $60 includes s/h in continental U.S., click Paypal button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

"Blues Skies", 36"x36" unframed palette knife oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas

Well, this is a biggie -- 3 feet by 3 feet, painted primarily in blue hues.  Hence, the name.  The clouds in Colorado are so beautiful, so numerous with the varying shades of the blues in the background, they light up everything!  Ready to hang, no need to frame unless you want to.

"The Arches of Utah Beckon" by Karla Nola, 4"x12" unframed palette knife oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas

I love the red earth and blue skies of the West.  The U.S has so many varied regions in it but the wide open skies and the ruddy orange and vermillion tones of  Terra Firma speak to my memories.  I hope we go back to Utah soon and see the Arches, Capitol Reef, Zion and so on................

"As the Sun Slips Behind the Loire River" by Karla Nolan, unframed palette knife oil painting

A number of years ago my husband and I traveled through the Loire Valley and visited Amboise.  We settled in to our tiny room, rested from the ordeals of the car travel, and prepared to dine.  As we were walking towards our restaurant, the sun was just beginning to slip behind the river.  With patience and persistence, we saw the magnificent results of another day, reflections above and below the water line.

"Mystery" by Karla Nolan, UNFRAMED miniature palette knife oil painting

I'll need you to use your imagination a bit here -- you can see the actual unframed painting of night skies, "Mystery", at the top of this blog and then an example of a framed painting with the same painting.  Please pretend that the matting is a linen mat -- I didn't have one the correct size on hand -- and you can see how a miniature painting can increase to more of a presence.

We are so close to winter now, the darkness arrives so early, what really is in the sky above?  It's just a mystery to me!

"Mystery", 4"x6" miniature palette knife oil painting on linen panel, $48 includes s/h in continental U.S., click Paypal button below or write me at KarlaNolan@gmail.com for more information

“Homestead” 6” x 9” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“Homestead”
6” x 9”
Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry
$125.00 + Shipping

This little painting is an amalgamation of several photos. The Colorado skies are magnificent, but I’m not always in the right place at the right time. The farm picture was taken from a distance as we were traveling along the freeway—no place to slip off the road for a photo, so it was taken as we moved—always interesting to see exactly what you’ve captured! The field was fallow, so I had to remember what it might have looked like after planting.

I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground with a hot pink and alcohol wash underneath, A mix of soft pastels completed the picture. This painting is double-matted and framed, ready for hanging.

I started this painting before my accidental in December, and just finished it today. I used a combination  of several reference photos to tell this story. There are lots of walking paths near where I live, it is always a pleasant time, and normally there are quite a few other folks walking and enjoying themselves also. This painting is for sale for $800.00, please contact me by e-mail for payment options and shipping information.  susanmspohn@gmail.com
